Ganfeng‘s First Shipment of Lithium Concentrate from Mali Dispatched

On the evening of June 24 local time, Goulamina lithium project, operated by Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Group Co., Ltd., completed loading its first batch of spodumene concentrate for shipment to China. The shipment officially set sail and is expected to arrive at Chinese ports in early August. After being loaded at the mine site, the ore was transported overland to the departure port, with the first trucks arriving at the port on May 7 Malian time.

The Goulamina project is located in Mali, Africa, with a total explored mineral resource of 211 million tons. It commenced production in 2024, with Phase I designed to produce 506,000 tons of spodumene concentrate annually. This marks Ganfeng's first self-developed and operated lithium resource project in Africa.

This inaugural shipment from Ganfeng’s first independently built and operated African lithium project also represents West Africa’s first-ever export of spodumene concentrate, signifying that Ganfeng Lithium’s African lithium resource strategy has entered a phase of tangible output.

For a long time, global lithium sources have been relatively concentrated, resulting in weak risk resilience. Meanwhile, as the lithium battery industry continues to shorten inventory turnover cycles in recent years, the demand for supply chain stability has become increasingly prominent.

To ensure stable raw material supply, Ganfeng began establishing a global resource footprint starting in 2011. Currently, its operational resources span Mali, Australia, Argentina, and China, covering various types including spodumene, brine, and lepidolite. This increasingly diversified resource supply system is gradually strengthening the resilience of Ganfeng’s raw material supply chain.

In recent years, Ganfeng has continuously focused on high-quality resources and supporting projects worldwide, carefully matching resource project capacities with production needs to avoid resource waste or shortages. At the resource level, Ganfeng has built its own photovoltaic power stations and energy storage systems to provide uninterrupted, low-cost green electricity for its projects; adopted DLE (Direct Lithium Extraction) technology and water recycling solutions to reduce per-unit resource consumption; and proactively developed battery recycling operations to enable lithium circular regeneration. Through these measures, operations can maintain stability even amid challenges such as climate and energy disruptions.

In addition, Ganfeng has enhanced information visibility by introducing digital platforms and intelligent equipment, enabling more accurate forecasting of supply chain operations and inventory levels, and allowing timely and effective responses to potential risks.

Through strategic investments in resources and technology, Ganfeng has transformed its lithium supply chain from fragile to resilient. As spodumene concentrate from Mali crosses continents from Africa to Asia, it carries not only mineral resources but also Ganfeng’s answer to the challenges of the energy transition.
