Hisense Upgrades Global Smart Home Platform with AWS AI Technologies

Hisense, a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, has announced the upgrade of its global smart home control platform, ConnectLife, by leveraging Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) advanced AI technologies and services. This enhancement enables Hisense to launch its first cross-domain, multimodal generative AI-powered chatbot, significantly improving consumer interaction experiences and strengthening the brand’s core competitiveness. By utilizing AWS’s fully managed generative AI service Amazon Bedrock, the open-source agent development framework Strands Agents led by AWS, and the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) service, Hisense has successfully transformed ConnectLife and its connected appliances—shifting from traditional button-based interactions to intuitive voice, text, and image-based communication, making interactions with devices smarter, more convenient, and more precise.

Hisense operates 30 R&D centers, 37 industrial parks and manufacturing bases, and 64 overseas subsidiaries and offices worldwide. It has ranked among China’s Top 10 Global Brands for nine consecutive years, with over one million cumulative users of its white goods smart appliances. As early as 2019, Hisense deployed its overseas ConnectLife smart home platform on AWS. Today, ConnectLife connects millions of devices across product categories including air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, and kitchen appliances.

As Agentic AI technology continues to evolve, Hisense has identified rich application scenarios and significant potential in integrating Agentic AI with smart home ecosystems. For example, in laundry scenarios, smart washing machines often offer 20–30 wash programs, leaving users unsure which cycle best suits their garments. To address this, Hisense developed an “AI Laundry Agent” within the ConnectLife platform using AWS technologies. Users can simply speak a query and upload a photo of their clothing fabric; the AI agent then analyzes the input and automatically recommends the optimal wash program and settings—dramatically reducing user effort while delivering more accurate results. This AI agent functionality also extends to kitchen appliances, air conditioners, and other home devices. The feature was showcased at CES 2026, attracting strong interest from global retailers and consumers alike.

With Amazon Bedrock, Hisense can access a wide range of powerful foundation models—from text to image—via simple APIs, enabling deployment in just two steps and significantly accelerating the rollout of AI agent features. Additionally, Hisense uses Amazon Bedrock Guardrails to enforce safety and compliance, ensuring secure handling of user interaction data and device control commands. The company also leveraged Strands Agents to simplify AI agent development, unlocking the full potential of foundation models by enabling autonomous reasoning, planning, tool invocation, and self-reflection. With just a few lines of code, Hisense developers can build robust Agentic AI applications. Strands Agents natively supports the MCP protocol, allowing seamless integration with vast internal and external tool resources—enabling AI agents to dynamically call tools based on task requirements and achieve virtually unlimited functional expansion. Furthermore, by using Amazon Transcribe, Hisense easily added speech-to-text capabilities to ConnectLife. Thanks to Amazon Transcribe’s low latency and multilingual support, Hisense delivers a smooth, efficient experience for users around the world.

The “last three kilometers” of generative AI implementation are critical and require substantial engineering investment. Embracing a co-innovation approach, AWS worked closely with Hisense from the project’s inception—participating in product planning and technology selection. Drawing on AWS’s deep expertise in smart home solutions, the team provided optimal architectural recommendations and delivered the “Generative AI Assistant for Smart Devices Control” solution to efficiently drive AI interaction features into production. Throughout the project, AWS’s industry teams, product experts, solutions architects, professional services, and rapid prototyping units collaborated closely with Hisense, offering expert guidance on engineering implementation—such as adopting advanced development frameworks, applying Amazon Bedrock AgentCore’s Built-in Evaluators to standardize and optimize agent workflows, and establishing a systematic methodology for multimodal agent development. These efforts significantly accelerated Hisense’s R&D capabilities, enabled rapid prototype delivery, and ensured smooth project execution.

Jin Tingwan, General Manager of Hisense Global Marketing Center’s Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Business Unit and Head of ConnectLife, stated: “Since 2019, Hisense has relied on AWS to deploy its global ConnectLife smart home platform overseas. Leveraging AWS’s globally distributed infrastructure and highly available cloud services, we’ve rapidly expanded our international business. Now, amid the rise of Agentic AI, we’ve successfully built an AI agent solution on AWS that further enhances intelligent interaction capabilities and strengthens our brand competitiveness. Looking ahead, Hisense will deepen collaboration with AWS to integrate AI into more ConnectLife modules and scenarios—such as smart air purification, intelligent cooking, energy management, and proactive customer service—to deliver whole-home, all-day intelligent living solutions.”

Tian Feng, General Manager of Industry Clusters at AWS China, said: “Hisense is a globally recognized leader in consumer electronics and home appliances. We’re proud to provide a comprehensive AI technology stack—from foundational services to application frameworks—that empowers Hisense to enhance user experience through conversational interfaces and intent recognition, driving the next generation of smart home innovation. Moving forward, AWS will continue to collaborate closely with Hisense to explore new smart living scenarios based on real user needs, accelerating the industry’s shift toward premium, personalized, and context-aware smart home experiences.”
