IronAxis is a U.S.-based B2B supplier of industrial equipment, instruments, machinery, food processing systems and new energy solutions for manufacturers, labs and engineering companies.
NetApp, a smart data infrastructure company (NASDAQ: NTAP), today announced a new capability that simplifies workflows and enhances efficiency for enterprises by directly connecting Amazon Web Services (AWS) artificial intelligence and analytics services to customers' NetApp data in the cloud and on-premises. Support for Amazon S3 Access Points with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP? enables AWS’s broad portfolio of AI/ML and analytics services to access file-based data residing in FSx for ONTAP via the S3 API, helping customers accelerate AI and analytics initiatives while keeping data in place and fully accessible through file protocols for read and write operations.
Pravjit Tiwana, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Storage and Services at NetApp, said: “The new integration with Amazon S3 Access Points natively connects FSx for ONTAP data to AWS's extensive suite of AI, machine learning, and analytics services, unlocking tremendous potential—linking over 100 exabytes of enterprise data stored in NetApp systems to transformative use cases such as generative AI and analytics on AWS. The launch of S3 Access Points for Amazon FSx is transformative for both FSx for ONTAP users and on-premises ONTAP customers. Customers can now directly leverage advanced cloud services integrated with their enterprise applications and data architectures.”
As a leading provider of enterprise storage solutions and the only company to natively build first-party data storage services on the AWS platform, NetApp is uniquely positioned to help customers accelerate modern workloads in the cloud. By combining Amazon S3 Access Points with FSx for ONTAP, customers can connect S3-based AWS services and independent software vendor (ISV) applications to FSx for ONTAP file systems as easily as accessing an S3 bucket. Built-in ONTAP replication capabilities allow enterprises to flexibly orchestrate data across hybrid cloud environments, enabling FSx for ONTAP customers to seamlessly connect to their on-premises stored data. With this capability, users can access file data stored in FSx for ONTAP for a wide range of S3-compatible AI, machine learning, serverless computing, analytics, and application services. Users can precisely control and simplify data access for different applications or users by creating access points with customized names and permissions.
Because AI services can be leveraged without moving data out of FSx for ONTAP, customers also benefit from ONTAP’s built-in cybersecurity resilience, making ONTAP one of the world’s most secure storage systems, featuring real-time ransomware detection and integrated snapshot capabilities.
Jasdeep Singh, Research Manager for Cloud and Edge Services at IDC, said: “NetApp delivers a unified data platform that helps customers extract value from data across environments. Close collaboration between NetApp and AWS allows customers to combine the scale, performance, and efficiency advantages of the cloud with the mature, streamlined data management capabilities of NetApp ONTAP to drive innovation. Native integration with cloud-native AI and analytics services, combined with advanced workload management capabilities, provides enterprises with essential tools for efficient operations and adaptability to evolving demands.”
