SII Electronics Co., Ltd. (President: Yoichi Endo; Head Office: Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture; hereinafter "SII") will begin mass production of the world's smallest* tuning-fork crystal resonator "SC-10S" (32.768 kHz), measuring just 1.0×0.8 mm, in April 2026.

[Development Background]
SII previously mass-produced the 1.2×1.0 mm "SC-12S" (32.768 kHz), one of the world’s smallest tuning-fork crystal resonators. As wearable devices such as smart rings and smartwatches, along with IoT devices, continue to shrink in size, there is an increasing demand for higher component density, lower power consumption, and improved performance in embedded electronic components. To meet these needs, SII has developed and will mass-produce the SC-10S—the world’s smallest tuning-fork crystal resonator—using its proprietary photolithography technology. The new device reduces mounting area by 33% compared to existing models, with dimensions of just 1.0×0.8×0.32 mm.

Utilizing SII’s proprietary photolithography technology capable of forming fine patterns on quartz wafers, the SC-10S achieves high-precision fabrication in the world’s smallest size (1.0×0.8×0.32 mm) for a 32.768 kHz tuning-fork crystal resonator.
2. Low ESR (90 kΩ Max)
Miniaturization typically leads to increased equivalent series resistance (ESR). However, through SII’s unique design and manufacturing technologies, the SC-10S maintains a low ESR comparable to existing models, with a maximum of only 90 kΩ.
3. High Shock Resistance and Frequency Stability
The SC-10S ensures excellent frequency stability even under shock or vibration, enabling highly reliable operation.
