Fiber Optic Scintillator – Radiation Detection Components Supplier & Cost

The FOS is an X-ray imaging device making use of a fiber optic plate (FOP) coated with X-ray scintillation material. The fiber optic plate is an optical device consisting of more than millions of glass fibers of several microns in diameter, FOS offers high sensitivity and high resolution, and allows real-time digital radiography when used while directly coupled to a commercially available CCD. The fiber optic plate used in the FOS has excellent X-ray absorption characteristics, so that X-rays which penetrate the X-ray scintillator and directly enter the CCD are minimized to less than 1%. This protects the CCD from device deterioration and from increased noise caused by X-ray irradiation, assuring a long CCD service life and maintaining high image quality.

 These are flat panel devices for X-ray imaging. These devices can be directly coupled to a commercial CCD for real-time radiography and so are being used in an expanding range of fields such as X-ray testing systems for medical diagnosis and industrial inspection applications.
