Rooted in China: Continuous Investment Empowering Local Development

The ever-evolving CIIE has become a shining “golden brand” for attracting foreign investment in China, leading multinational companies like 3M to increasingly recognize the investment opportunities within the Chinese market. During last year's CIIE, 3M officially launched its $50 million smart cutting center at its Shanghai Chemical Industry Park production base. Integrated with structural adhesive production lines and a testing laboratory, the center leverages strong synergy and rapid response capabilities to better and faster meet domestic customers’ needs in electronics and industrial sectors for rapid product iteration, diverse innovation development, and manufacturing.

In August this year, 3M further solidified its commitment to the Chinese market with the completion of an expansion project for its tape production line at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park base, investing hundreds of millions of RMB. The project was completed and operational within just 12 months, increasing production capacity by 50%, accurately meeting China's growing demand in consumer electronics and automotive electrification for low-emission, lightweight, and high-strength products.

In addition, a recently upgraded optical materials pilot lab, with a multimillion-dollar investment, has officially commenced operations, further strengthening 3M's competitive advantages in R&D, testing, and production supply chains, enabling efficient responses to customer demands in consumer electronics and automotive electronics.
