Thredd, a leading next-generation global payment processor, today announced that Netbank, the Philippines' first fully regulated embedded banking platform, has selected Thredd to launch its new "Cards-as-a-Service" (CaaS) solution. This empowers fintech companies, e-wallet providers, and financial institutions to deploy modern, flexible card issuance services across consumer and commercial sectors.
Netbank's CaaS solution is powered by Thredd's comprehensive full-stack card issuing platform, supporting both virtual and physical card issuance, with advanced spending controls, real-time card creation APIs, a robust card management system, an intuitive operations portal, and seamless integration with Google Pay. This collaboration will enable Netbank's clients to launch innovative card products tailored to the dynamic needs of the Philippine market.
Recent data from the central bank and third-party sources indicate that the Philippines is accelerating its transition toward a cashless economy, with significant growth in both transaction volume and value for digital payments. The compound annual growth rate of digital payments is projected to reach 13.8% by 2033.
Jim McCarthy, CEO of Thredd, said: "The Philippine market presents vibrant growth opportunities, particularly in social commerce, micro-merchants, and small and medium enterprises. Our partnership with Netbank will drive a new generation of personal and business use cases, including expense management cards, payroll cards, and gig economy and contractor payout solutions, strongly supporting the country's digital transformation journey."
Gus Poston, founder of Netbank, said: "By partnering with Thredd, we are enabling our fintech and e-money institution partners across the Philippines to rapidly and easily launch modern card services—a product widely demanded by our network of over 120 fintech partners." He added, "This collaboration will accelerate our mission to drive nationwide financial innovation and inclusion."
