MTN to Distribute Amazon Leo for Global Maritime Deployment

MTN, a world-class network operator and pioneer in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology applications, has signed an agreement to become an authorized maritime distributor of Amazon’s satellite internet service, Amazon Leo. MTN will initially offer the service across key maritime sectors, including commercial shipping, yachts, offshore operations, and cruise and ferry vessels.

Amazon Leo is building one of the world’s most advanced satellite communications systems, powered by a constellation of thousands of LEO satellites. Compared to traditional geostationary (GEO) satellite solutions, Amazon Leo delivers significantly lower latency and higher throughput—enabling real-time applications, telemetry, remote operations, and hybrid network architectures. In the maritime domain, the system will support high-speed onboard Wi-Fi, enhanced crew communications, and improved vessel operational efficiency across global waters—from the North Atlantic to the South Pacific.
