Stretch wrapping equipment is no longer a commodity purchase. In 2026, procurement teams are balancing labor shortages, film cost volatility, sustainability targets, and tightening machine safety rules across North America and the EU. Whether you are a distributor, a contract packager, or an end user adding a line, the selection process should follow a disciplined sequence: define the load, define the throughput, define the environment, then shortlist suppliers who can prove performance with data.

This guide is written for B2B buyers sourcing stretch wrappers for import or domestic purchase. It covers practical selection steps, a knowledge table, real-world brand categories, procurement and logistics checklists, compliance risks, and maintenance planning. Step 1: Profile the Load Before You Talk to Any Supplier

Most failed stretch wrapper projects start with a machine-first conversation. Reverse that. Collect the following load data first: pallet size and weight range, load height, load stability (loose cases, bags, drums, or unstable stacks), whether the load is rigid or compressible, and whether the pallet is wood, plastic, or slip-sheet based. Also record the operating environment: ambient temperature, dust, washdown requirements, freezer conditions, and floor condition. Cold-chain and freezer applications require different film pre-stretch behavior and different component ratings than a dry warehouse. If the wrapper will sit at the end of a high-speed production line, the wrapper must match the line rate, not the average shift rate.

A powered pre-stretch system that reliably delivers 250% to 300% stretch can cut film consumption dramatically compared with a brake-only system.
