Lubrizol and Sinar Mas Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On October 17, Lubrizol and Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), announcing their joint exploration of collaboration opportunities in sustainable paper and packaging solutions.

According to the announcement, APP and Lubrizol are global leaders in the pulp and paper industry and specialty chemicals sector, respectively. Through this partnership, both parties will fully integrate APP's extensive expertise in paper-based packaging manufacturing with Lubrizol's specialized strengths in specialty chemicals to co-develop innovative water-based and bio-based coating technologies. Additionally, the two companies will actively promote regulatory compliance across the industry and encourage the adoption of more sustainable material solutions across various sectors.

Under the MoU, APP and Lubrizol will establish a joint working group to systematically evaluate and expand collaboration in areas such as sustainable coatings, barrier technologies, and functional paper packaging applications.

As a key component of this collaboration, Foopak Bio Natura—the flagship sustainable paperboard brand from APP for food and beverage packaging—will play a pivotal role. Through this partnership, APP aims to further integrate cutting-edge technologies to enhance the overall performance of its sustainable packaging solutions and deliver greater value to customers worldwide.
