Monolithic Power Systems (MPS, NASDAQ: MPWR) has announced the release of its new automotive-grade Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT LCD) bias driver—MPQ5613D-AEC1. Certified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 reliability standards, this highly integrated solution is designed for a wide range of in-vehicle display applications, including instrument clusters, center-stack displays, and head-up displays (HUDs).
As vehicle intelligence advances rapidly, the automotive display market is experiencing significant growth. TFT LCD technology remains dominant, accounting for over 90% of automotive displays. The MPQ5613D-AEC1 addresses this demand with a purpose-built architecture that integrates four regulated output channels, a VCOM buffer, and gate voltage shaping functionality—all optimized for automotive TFT LCD panels.
Highly Flexible and Scalable Power Delivery
The MPQ5613D-AEC1 operates from an input voltage range of 2.7V to 12V. All four output rails and the VCOM buffer feature adjustable voltage settings:
With a boost output range of 2.7V to 21.8V and a buck-boost (negative) output range of –0.7V to –16.6V, the device can drive larger and higher-resolution display panels commonly used in modern vehicles.
Optimized for Diverse Automotive Applications
Beyond its versatile power capabilities, the MPQ5613D-AEC1 offers advanced features to enhance system compatibility and performance:
These capabilities allow seamless integration across various display panel architectures and OEM requirements.
Robust Protection for Reliable Operation
To ensure safe and stable performance in demanding automotive environments, the MPQ5613D-AEC1 includes comprehensive protection features:
Compact, Integrated Package Design
Built on MPS’s expertise in power integration, the MPQ5613D-AEC1 incorporates the VCOM buffer and gate voltage shaping circuitry into a space-saving QFN package (4mm × 5mm). This high level of integration significantly reduces PCB footprint and minimizes external component count—lowering both BOM cost and system complexity.
