Recently, the Zambian fertilizer project, executed under an EPC contract by China WuHuan Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of China National Chemical Engineering Group), has achieved another key milestone. Following the successful commissioning of several critical systems—including the coal conveying system, boiler ignition and steam generation, and turbine-driven power generation—the project has now completed the turbine rolling and integrated trial run of the air separation compressor. This marks a comprehensive breakthrough in the operation of the plant's utility systems and core rotating equipment, providing a solid foundation for the upcoming commissioning of the main process units.
As the power heart of the entire facility, the successful boiler ignition, steam generation, and turbine-based power generation mean the project has now established a stable and reliable self-sufficient energy supply chain—covering “coal conveying → boiler steam generation → steam conversion → power output.” After the project's successful grid connection, the completion of the turbine rolling and integrated trial run of the air separation compressor will supply high-quality instrument air and purge gas to process piping and equipment. This achievement signifies the official transition from commissioning auxiliary/utility systems to commissioning chemical process units, ushering in the trial run phase for core process units such as coal gasification, ammonia synthesis, and urea production.
