Installation, Maintenance & Compliance: Accuracy is installed, not just purchased. Provide your team with the supplier's mounting guidelines. Critical steps include using rigid, level mounting surfaces, proper torque on fasteners, and ensuring no piping or conduits impart stress on the sensor body. Implement a regular maintenance schedule to check mounting integrity, cable condition, and calibration drift. Compliance is twofold: adhere to industry-specific standards (like OSHA for safety) and ensure the load cell system meets any required legal-for-trade or measurement accuracy regulations in your jurisdiction.
Risk Mitigation: The primary risks include premature failure, inaccurate data leading to process errors, and unplanned downtime. Mitigate these by sourcing from reputable suppliers with strong warranty and technical support, maintaining on-site spares for critical applications, and investing in initial training for installation personnel. Avoid the cost-driven pitfall of selecting a standard-grade load cell for a high-vibration environment; the total cost of ownership from failures far outweighs the initial premium for a ruggedized design.
