In celebration of the 100th anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion—Canada’s largest veterans’ support and community service organization—the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has issued a series of exquisitely crafted pure gold and silver commemorative coins. These numismatic tributes honor the Legion’s century-long mission of supporting veterans, active military personnel, Royal Canadian Mounted Police members, and their families, while upholding the enduring spirit of remembrance across Canada.

Three official commemorative coins are now available for purchase:
A Tribute Spanning Past, Present, and Future
The reverse of the $100 fine gold coin was designed by Canadian artist Laurie McGaw as a split composition that bridges eras. The right side features two contemporary Legion members in uniform, gazing toward a collage of First World War imagery: Canadian infantry soldiers, an S.E.5a fighter aircraft, and the distant silhouette of HMCS Niobe—a battlecruiser that served in the newly formed Royal Canadian Navy. These elements symbolize Canada’s contributions to the Allied cause and the foundational sacrifices that gave rise to the Legion.
Interwoven throughout the design are poppies blooming at the top and bottom, connecting past and present while evoking the eternal cycle of Remembrance Day.
Silver Dollar Honors Unity and Legacy
The reverse of the 2026 Proof Silver Dollar, created by artist Steve Hepburn, depicts two Legion members standing solemnly on Remembrance Day against a backdrop of the Legion’s official maple leaf emblem. Below them, a floral arrangement includes:
A banner across the center displays the years “1926” and “2026,” flanked by three poppies drawn from the Legion’s official insignia.
All three commemorative coins feature the obverse portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
